ROWNER FLAT CLOSED OVER DRUG LINKS
Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court have approved an order to close 45 Turner Avenue in Rowner, jointly applied for by the Borough Council and Hampshire Police jointly
The order is intended to combat criminal behaviour and disorder – including activity suggesting drug dealing.
Portsmouth Magistrates approved the latest order under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, after evidence was presented showing drug use in communal areas of the council block that contains the flat.
A similar order was applied to a flat at 13 Niton Close, also in Rowner, in July following reports of anti-social behaviour and disorder.
The orders last for three months and it is a criminal offence to enter the address during this period unless authorised by the police or Gosport Borough Council and anyone who breaks the order could face a fine or imprisonment.
