Officers are investigating an armed robbery at the Grande Wine Store on Palmyra Road in Gosport.
A member of staff reported that he had been threatened by a man who had his face covered shortly after 9:30pm on Sunday, March 27th.
The victim reported that the man was carrying a weapon, which the staff member described as a handgun. No-one was hurt and £340 in cash was taken from the till before the man left the store.
The victim described the man as:
Between 6ft and 6ft 3ins tall.
He was wearing a black padded raincoat with the hood up, dark trousers and black shoes, ski style gloves and a mask.
Investigating Officer DC Julie Way said: “This is an extremely rare incident and doesn’t seem to be linked to any other reports. The premises was targeted at night when it was very wet and windy and not many people were out and about.
“We are still trying to establish if the weapon seen was a genuine handgun or an imitation firearm. Thankfully no-one was injured in this incident.
“I’m especially keen to hear from a man and a woman who used the store shortly beforehand and who may have seen what happened. I’d also like to hear from anyone who may have found discarded clothing in the area”.
